For the support of the work of the church at the McGilvary Theological Seminary of Chaingmai, Thailand, above and beyond that which is already allocated by the Faith United Presbyterian Church and/or The United Presbyterian Church in the USA for use by the same institution…The income used for this purpose shall be considered to be outside the budget and shall not be equalized. The McGilvary Theological Seminary of Chaingmai, Thailand shall use the said income from the fund hereby established as its governing Board shall determine for the support of scholarships. Should the McGilvary Theological Seminary of Chaingmai, Thailand be merged or consolidated with any other seminary of The United Presbyterian Church in the USA, the net income from this gift shall be paid to the said merged seminary which shall be entitled to receive all the benefits of this gift and shall be obligated to administer the same in all respects and in accordance with the terms of this agreement. Further, should the McGilvary Theological Seminary of Chaingmai, Thailand or its successors cease to exist or cease to be a part of or officially connected with The United Presbyterian Church in the USA, then said net income shall be used for the support of theological education in a manner as similar as possible to the original intent of the Donor.

(Codicil) to be used by said Trustees for the uses and purposes and upon the terms and conditions set forth in Item IV of my said Will; except I direct that the Theological courses provided for in said Item of said Will shall be pursued exclusively in the Union Theological Seminary, of Richmond, Virginia, and not Princeton Seminary, or Columbia Theological Seminary of Columbia, (Will) (1) In providing free scholarships for worthy and capable young men residing within the bounds of what is known as ASHEVILLE PRESBYTERY, in the Presbyterian Church in the United States, to enable them to obtain a complete collegiate education in either the University of North Carolina, the University of Virginia, or Princeton University, at their election; and thereafter to pursue a complete theological course in either Columbia Theological Seminary of Columbia, South Carolina, Union Theological Seminary of Richmond, Virginia or Princeton Theological Seminary of Princeton, New Jersey, at their election, upon the following conditions: SCHOLARSHIPS No young man shall be entitled to the benefits of such free scholarships unless and until he shall have been first prepared to enter one of the colleges first above mentioned, and shall have pledged himself to become a Minister of the Gospel in what is commonly known as the Southern Presbyterian Church, and shall have been taken under the care of, and recommended by, said Presbytery, as worthy to receive such free scholarships. Not more than four young men from said Presbytery shall at any one time be matriculating at either or all of the Colleges first above mentioned; neither shall more than that number, at any one time, be pursuing their theological courses at any of the Seminaries above mentioned. Such free scholarships shall also carry with them the proper maintenance of such students during the periods of their matriculation at said colleges and seminaries. In case the income from the said Memorial Endowment Fund shall prove more than sufficient to provide the free scholarships to students residing within the bounds of Asheville Presbytery, not to exceed the number hereinbefore mentioned, or should that number of free scholarships students from said Presbytery not at any time be actually engaged in pursuing their collegiate and theological courses in the Colleges and Seminaries aforesaid, then I direct that the Trustees of said General Assembly shall use the residuum of said Memorial Endowment Fund to provide free scholarships for other worthy young men living elsewhere within the bounds of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States in Columbia Theological Seminary at Columbia, South Carolina, upon condition that no young man residing within the bounds of any Presbyterian within the General Assembly of the United States shall be entitled to receive a free scholarship from said Memorial Fund, unless and until he shall have first been taken under the care of the Presbytery in which he shall reside as a candidate for the ministry in the Southern Presbyterian Church, and recommended by said Presbytery as being worthy to receive such free scholarship in said Columbia Theological Seminary, which scholarship shall carry with it the proper maintenance of such students during the period of their matriculation at said Columbia Theological Seminary.
