Fund for the Education of Children of Missionaries | 203100052095

For the education of children of [foreign] missionaries. [In accordance with the 9/18/1944 BFM action the following policy governs grants for scholarships from the Fund for the Education of Children of Missionaries:I. That the scholarships shall be administered by the Executive Council of the Board upon recommendation of the Personnel Committee of the Board and the Missionary Personnel and Medical Department Council of the Executive Staff.II. That the granting of all scholarships from these funds shall be on the basis of the financial need of the family.III. That the sons and daughters of missionaries who anticipate full time service in the Presbyterian Church shall have a prior claim when the financial need is equally evident.IV. That the sons and daughters of missionaries pursuing post graduate work which leads to full time service in the Presbyterian Church shall be eligible for scholarships, provided the amount received as scholarships shall be refunded according to the practice followed by the Board in connection with its Missionary Preparation funds, i.e., should they fail to serve the church the full five years.V. That all grants shall be made for one year only, but may be renewed on the basis of satisfactory work.VI. That the maximum grant for any one year to any son or daughter shall not exceed two hundred dollars.VII. That applications for these scholarships shall be in the hands of the Department of Missionary Personnel by March 1 of each year, with awards to be announced by April 1, it being understood that the scholarships may be used at whatever institution is specified in the application.]

The income from this fund is to be used with preference to children [of foreign missionaries] attending the College of Wooster and any income not use for children attending the College of Wooster is to be used for children [of foreign missionaries] attending other schools. The income will not be carried forward at the end of the fiscal year except as part of the total balance available for all schools.

To be used for scholarships in Pakistan, on the understanding that, if in the future, circumstances make it advisable to use the interest of the fund elsewhere, due to political or other reasons, the Commission [Coemar] is free to do so, provided that the title and the interest for which this fund was set up are always connected with it, and the purpose is maintained as nearly as possible.
