to be used for the Patricia Ann Burrus Spaulding Award*, and that the excess income to be spent at the Beneficiary's discretion with a first consideration for scholarships to conferences sponsored by the Beneficiary. It is not mandated that money be used for these scholarships, only consideration be given by the Beneficiary. It is to be understood that the Beneficiary will evaluate the Patricia Ann Burrus Spaulding Award from time to time so that the award amount may be increased to be competitive with other awards. In a year when the award is not deemed to be awarded by the Beneficiary that money will be spent at the Beneficiary's discretion. The Beneficiary may in its wisdom change the award for a published article to a published book for which the award was established by the PHS Committee meeting in Montreat, NC, October of 1996. (*The Patricia Ann Burrus Spaulding Award is given for the best published scholarly historical article to an American Presbyterian or Reformed woman or women. The author receives an award of $200.00 plus a certificate.)
