For pastors' continuing education as outlined in Appendix A. Appendix A: This fund was established in honor of Patricia and John Anderson, members of the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Barbara, California. The purpose of this Fund is to encourage pastors to emphasize continuing education as a priority for pastoral ministry and to seek appropriate opportunities for such. The total amount of annual income shall be given to either a pastor or an associate pastor who is regularly installed in one of the churches of the Presbytery of Santa Barbara. She or he shall use this money in the year received to add to any funds designated by a local church for that person's annual continuing education or study leave allowance. The Presbytery Council or its designated representative of the Presbytery of Santa Barbara shall choose this person and announce the name of the person chosen no later than the second regularly scheduled Presbytery meeting in a calendar year. Preference for choosing the recipients of this gift shall be given to pastors or associate pastors who either have been in the pastorate for less than ten years or serve a smaller church where continuing education funding may be less than adequate. The Presbytery of Santa Barbara shall determine and notify the Foundation in writing no more than once a year that they require all or part of the accumulated income of such Fund. The Foundation shall pay to the Presbytery of Santa Barbara the income as requested. Such withdrawal shall be made according to the rules of the Foundation then in effect.
