The Haddican-Fargo Lee Memorial Fund | 102240005807

I. The Fund shall consist of the residue funds from the Church and Sunday school treasuries and the Haddican Memorial Fund. The Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation shall manage the fund. The Presbytery of Great Rivers or the Presbytery of jurisdiction for Brown County, Illinois shall receive the annual earnings of this Fund. The Presbytery shall distribute annually the earnings based on the recommendations of the scholarship committee and action by the Macomb Ministry Council, or its successors. II. The Scholarship Committee to administer the distribution of the funds shall consist of three persons: one lay person from the Quincy Ministry Council, one lay person from the Macomb Ministry Council, and one clergy. The lay members are to serve three year terms. A. The Quincy Ministry Council of the Presbytery of Great Rivers, or its successors, shall choose one lay person to be on the committee. This person shall be a resident of the Lee Township or its successors. If possible this person shall be a descendant of the Lee Church. B. The Macomb Ministry Council of the Presbytery of Great Rivers, or its successors, shall choose one lay person to be on the committee. This person shall be any descendant of the Fargo-Lee Church. If there are no descendants of the church willing to serve, the person shall be a resident of Brown County, Illinois. C. The minister on the committee shall be the minister of the Mt. Sterling Presbyterian Church of Christ. If there be none it shall be the Presbyterian minister closest to the Lee Township or its successors. III. One purpose of the Haddican-Fargo Lee Church Memorial Fund is to prepare and maintain the memorial site being established on the site of the present Fargo Lee Presbyterian Church. As necessary, upon recommendations for the Scholarship Committee, monies from the fund may be used for building removal, site preparation, trees and landscaping, and any other expenses which may be incurred in completion of said memorial and which are not covered by other church funds. The second and primary purpose of the Haddican-Fargo Lee Church Memorial Fund is to provide worthy students with help to further their undergraduate or graduate education. These candidates shall have demonstrated good Christian character, academic ability and financial need. Preference will be given to members of the Fargo Lee Church and their descendants. If none apply, then to Lee township residents. If none apply, then the fund is available to students who are Brown County residents. Availability of this scholarship money when not used by Lee Church descendants will be limited to residents of the geographical area now known as Brown County. If more than one person applies, the committee shall determine and recommend the number of recipients and size of scholarship grants. If no one applies for either purpose during the calendar year after the interest is earned, the income for investments shall be returned to the Foundation and shall be added to principal.

To be used for support of a long established summer program for emotionally disturbed children within the boundaries of the Presbytery. The summer program should include such subjects as language arts, camping crafts, geography, spelling, arts and crafts, mathematics and science. The summer program should include onging research and generate published scientific studies on changes in child behavior.
