For use as outright grants to students at said institutions who are among the top ten percent (10%) of their college or seminary class and who show promise and excellence for ministerial service or for teaching in the Lord's service. Those selected by the colleges or seminary shall receive grants to defray tuition expenses for up to as much as the full cost of tuition for their years of study up to and including study for a master's degree of the colleges or a B.D., M. Div., D. Min., or other equivalent basic degree of the seminary.

Weyerhaeuser's Deed of Trust dated 1/8/1938 - paragraph V.Subject to the provisions of the paragraph VI, hereof, so long as Macalester College, of Saint Paul, Minnesota, during any year while this trust shall continue in force, through its chief executive and other personnel shall, in the opinion of said Trustee, give Christian emphasis to its teaching and through the curriculum offered to assist in the accomplishment of the general purpose of the Donors hereinabove set forth, and shall in its relations to the said Trustee fulfill all terms or conditions which may be required of other colleges assisted by said Trustee, the said Trustee shall pay over to said Macalester College, during each such year, in convenient installments, the net income of said trust; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that, if in any such year such net income exceeds $4,000.00, said Trustee may either pay over such net income in excess of $4,000.00 to said Macalester College or may withhold such excess of either of the following purposes: (a) To restore any depletion of the principal of said trust, or (b) to pay over such excess, or as much thereof as may be necessary in any subsequent year (during which said college is entitled to the net income of said trust), to said Macalester College to make good any deficiency in the income of this trust up to $4,000.00 in any such year when the net income of this trust for said year shall not equal $4,000.00.The decision of whether or not said college has fulfilled the terms hereof so as to entitle it to said net income in any year or years under the terms hereof shall rest in the absolute and uncontrolled discretion of said Trustee, acting in its corporate capacity, and its decision shall not be questioned by anyone in any action or proceeding whatever.If said Trustee shall decide that said income for any year or years shall not be paid over to said college because of the fact that it has not fulfilled the terms hereof under which said income is payable to it, said Trustee is hereby authorized and directed to use the said income for any such year or years in carrying on any one or more of the activities which said Trustee is authorized to carry on.
