....reinvest said income back into the principal of said gift until the principal reaches Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00) [amount has been reached] or for a period twelve (12) years from the date of establishment of this Fund, whichever shall come first. At such time it will be the reasonability of the Session of the First United Presbyterian Church of Vashon, Washington to notify the Foundation to begin paying the First United Presbyterian Church of Vashon, Washington the net income therefrom quarterly. The First United Presbyterian Church of Vashon, Washington, or its successor, shall use the said income from the Fund herby established as outlined in Appendix A. Appendix A: The income from this permanent fund is to be used as directed by the Session of the First United Presbyterian Church of Vashon, Washington, for the purpose of awarding scholarships and grants to aid persons in completing college, university, or similar academic studies. Aware that the scholarship endowment is a permanent fund that will remain in perpetuity, those establishing the endowment have made a conscious decision not to further restrict either the choice of recipients, the duration of their support, or the type of academic study. While the primary intent is to assist those who have successfully completed two or more years of study in obtaining matching grants or other scholarship aid, funds may be used for individuals with other special training or retraining needs, on a discretionary, case-by-case basis. Multiple awards and renewals may be granted. At least three awards shall be made in any five-year period. Income not used for awards is to be redeposited in the permanent fund. No part of the income may be used for administration or as a budgetary replacement for ongoing church costs or mission activities.
