For a quality music program, in the hope that it will enhance the musical and spiritual ministry already present in the church. Such purpose can be accomplished in any or all of the following manners: 1. To pay the salary of a choir director-organist in an amount sufficient to attract a talented person on a long-term basis; 2.To provide or replace choir robes as needed; 3. To buy music and provide for its cataloging and maintenance; 4. To pay for the choir's travel expense to hear or to give programs of excellent musical quality; 5. To pay honorariums for performers to add special music to regular and holiday worship services. The music department of regional colleges and universities can provide recommendations for performers; 6. To pay for workshops and in-service training of the choir director if the music committee (described below) believes the director will continue as the director for a period of time sufficient for the congregation to receive a substantial benefit from the training; 7. To set aside an amount each year, as necessary, to invest in a quality instrument for the congregation. This description is intended to be broad enough to include not only a piano or organ, but also less traditional instruments, including electronic instruments; 8. To provide security and insurance for said instrument; and 9. To pay for the administration expenses of this fund. The Session shall distribute the income, in its discretion, upon the recommendation of a music committee selected by the Session. The committee shall consist of three to five members selected from among the minister, choir director, choir member, area music educator, church officer, school administrator or officer of the local service organizations. The music committee will determine the music needs of the congregation and request funds for the above listed items as they deem them to be proper and beneficial. This committee shall consult with the Session as needed to assure that their use of theses funds is proper, and in any event to consult annually for the first five years and at least once every three years thereafter.
