Theological Schools Endowment Fund-36936 | 203142057196

The Theological Schools Endowment Fund is a denominationally directed endowment aimed at benefiting Presbyterian theological schools in service to the Church. It was created in 1986 by the 198th General Assembly alongside the Theological Education Fund.

The Theological Schools Endowment Fund exists for two reasons. First, it is a way for Presbyterians who want to provide long-term support for Presbyterian theological education in general but not one particular school. This fund provides a way to support the future training of Presbyterian ministers, church educators, and other church professionals. Second, Presbyterian leaders imagined that as this fund grew it would lessen the need for funds from congregations and thus release more local money for other projects of the Church.

The TSEF is a permanent endowment managed by the Presbyterian Foundation at the direction of the Committee on Theological Education to supplement annual gifts given to the Theological Education Fund. Since 1980, the average annual return on investments in a permanent endowment with the Presbyterian Foundation is 7.85% with an average annual payout for a spending formula for 5.21%. This translates to a $100,000 investment in 1980 distributing $493,075 and now being valued at $295,571. (Please note that past performance is no guarantee of future results.) Preserve your passion for the mission of theological education and support of future ministers perpetually with a gift the Theological Schools Endowment Fund.
