High School seniors entering college or trade schools will be eligible; adults attending college will not be eligible except those having recently attained a GED and attending college for the first time. Full-time students will be given priority. If, in any given year, there are no applicants as described above, current college sophomores may apply. If there are no sophomores, juniors may apply, etc. Prior recipients of the scholarship fund may reapply. Any college program or trade school is payable except those that the committee deems are related to non-Christian studies (i.e. the occult). Distribution/Administration: All who apply and meet the eligibility requirements will be awarded the scholarship (if $2,000 is available and four students apply, each receives $500. If two apply, they each receive $1,000). If no one applies in a given year, the monies will be left to generate interest. A total award of $1,000 per student will be awarded (this may be $250 each year for four years or $1,000 in one year). Only the interest accumulated each period will be awarded. If adequate funds accumulate, the committee may choose to award scholarships twice annually in May and November. Applications will be reviewed by a committee that will included at least one family member (as family desires) and three others from the Memorial Committee. A complete application consists of the completed form and a one-page single spaced type-written essay on a topic announced by the scholarship committee prior to the application period. Decisions of the committee will be final. Funds will be made payable to the school only (not the student) and are to be used for tuition only. The money must be returned to the scholarship fund in the event the student does not attend college/school. Scholarships will be presented during the Senior service/or Senior breakfast each year. Application forms will be available in the church office and must be returned to the office by March 31st to be considered for that year. The Memorial Committee will have the right to make changes to any part of the scholarship guidelines as necessary in future years as approved by the Session and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation.
