The church ruling body (ie) The Session shall give to the Christian Education Committee and Christian Education Coordinator responsibility for establishing basic criteria for the scholarship and selection of the committee (on a yearly basis) to select the recipients Regulations of the Presbyterian Foundation and some basic wishes of the donor should be followed.The Scholarship should be known as the May B. Benepe Family Scholarship. In a five year cycle the scholarship shall be awarded in the name of each individual honored in order of birth and death.(ie) 2001 May B. Benepe (Mrs. Frank W. Benepe)2002 Dorothy Benepe Tripp (Mrs. Russel R. Tripp)2003 Georgea Benepe Walton (Mrs. Earl Walton) 2004 J. Winifred Benepe Hobbs (Mrs. Stanely Hobbs) 2005 Frances M. Benepe Shobert (Mrs. J. Russel Shobert) 2006 May B. Benepe (etc) The recipient shall show interest in serving God and The Carpinteria Community Church from time of being received by confirmation or (in special cases transferring from another church) through his or her senior year in high school. Interest is shown through attending church youth activities including educational opportunities and by taking par in church-sponsored activities. (Absolute perfection not to be required).Recipient should be responsible student performing in a satisfactory manner within his or her capabilities.Scholarship may be applied to so called Trade Schools as well as recognized junior colleges and four year colleges and universities.On the best judgment of the selection committee, some years the amount can be split to form two small scholarships or a scholarship may be held in order to award two full scholarships the following year.In special cases the scholarship could be awarded a second year to the same person (ie) a special need.Scholarships must be applied for through a letter by possible recipients.
