Designated Use
For the purpose of providing scholarships for men and women who are in training in Theological, Agricultural, Engineering and Medical work within the area of missionaries in Korea and in the Camerouns in Africa. The man or woman student requesting a scholarship through this fund shall be one who bears the recommendation of the Head Master of the school and the Missionary of the Presbyterian Church in that particular area of the Westminster Mission. The actual selection of the student to receive such a scholarship is to be done by a Committee in the Mission field in each area. A student to be awarded a scholarship through this Fund shall have the following qualifications: (1) Must be a Christian; (2) Must have a good, dependable character; (3) Must have a pleasing personality; (4) Must have the aptitude to work diligently and apply their efforts in their study courses; (5) Must have sufficient ability so as to insure their likelihood to succeed in the field of work for which he or she is preparing. The Selection Committee shall be empowered to award one or more scholarships each year for a one year period as the amount of income received on the Fund will allow. If a sufficiently high scholastic standing of the student is maintained, the scholarship may be continued to be awarded to that student until he or she completes the course of study. If, in the judgment of those in charge of the school, the student fails to maintain a sufficiently high scholastic average, or if for good and sufficient reason the student fails to live up to the qualification standards above enumerated, the scholarship may be withheld from that student and awarded to another student. The scholarship is to be considered as an outright gift to the student, and he or she is not to be required to reimburse the Fund. However, should a student voluntarily desire to reimburse all or any part of the scholarship, such a repayment will be gratefully received. Such repayments when received are to be added to the principal of the Fund to provide thru it earnings more future scholarships. If for any reason the Mission work is abandoned in any of the fields mentioned in paragraph one under the care of Westminster Church, then the use of this scholarship Fund for that area shall be similarly administered by the Commission on Ecumenical Mission and Relations in those fields where, in its judgment it is determined the need is greatest.
