Designated Use

to provide scholarships, designated as Sam Tinsley and Mary Turner Snoddy Scholarships, to be awarded to either (1) children of missionaries (preferably Presbyterian), or (2) Christians from abroad, or (3) Americans. The numbers and amounts of such scholarships shall be determined by the Foundation in light of such factors as (1) income available from this Fund at a given time, (2) financial resources and needs of student applicants, (3) the nature and cost of the course or courses of study to be pursued by the applicants. The Foundation may award such scholarships for either (1) undergraduate college education toward a first degree, or (2) the acquisition of specialized knowledge or skills designed to equip the applicants for service in meeting particular vocational needs on mission fields, such as in agriculture, audio-visuals, plane-piloting or maintenance, etc. But such scholarships are not to be awarded to applicants for the purpose of pursuing courses toward advanced, post graduate degrees with a view to preparation for teaching in educational institutions in the U.S.A. These scholarships may be used in any school, college, or university which the Foundation may approve as appropriate to the service objectives of the applicants, with schools under Presbyterian auspeices to be given preference.
