The income shall be used for the purpose of paying honorariums, travel expense or other similar expenses to enable the First United Presbyterian Church of Independence, Iowa, or its successors, to bring to said church individuals or groups for the purpose of speaking or presenting a program in the church building.The session of the church shall determine what the program will be and the time of the presentation. In making this determination, it is hoped that some of the speakers or programs will be of a nature relating to the general mission of the United Presbyterian Church or any of its agencies, and may include speaker's from any seminary, college or university.It is hoped that there shall be such a speaker or program at least once a year; however, if the session so wishes, the earnings from several years can be pooled in order to secure special speakers in the event that one year's earnings are not sufficient to pay the amount needed to secure a particular speaker or program, as it is the purpose of this fund to secure speakers and programs which might not otherwise be available to the Presbyterian Church in Independence, Iowa.

The amount of the award shall be determined by the earnings of the principal. Any unused award funds shall be returned and added to the principal sum.It is the donor's desire that the award be announced during the month of May at an appropriate time. If practical, consultation with the family as to worthy projects is desired.The recipient of the award shall be selected by the Session of the First United Presbyterian Church or a group designated by the Session to make the selection of a recipient. In determining the recipient or recipients, it is suggested that the award should be used for volunteers in mission, synod school or other similar schools, leader educational opportunities, work camp, scholarship to a Presbyterian-related college or seminary, a worker in a vacation church school, sending a youth to General Assembly or sending a youth on a mission tour. The recipient is not limited to the foregoing, which are only suggestions as to its possible used. The recipient shall not be required to make restitution for any award received from the fund.
